Approved by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation
The Utah Boater Education Card (also referred to as the Utah boating license) is proof that a boater has taken and passed an approved boater education course. If you are 12 to 17 years of age and wish to operate a motorboat you are required to successfully complete a proctored exam in a classroom setting. Please use the free course material available on this website to prepare for your classroom course.
For all others boaters, you can take your safe boating exam directly on the Internet. If you are under 18 years of age, you can use the course and exam as a study tool but you are not able to operate a PWC without someone 18 years of age or older onboard. In addition you cannot take the proctored exam until you are at least 12 years of age.
