This course will take place at: Middlesex County College, Edison Campus 2600 Woodbridge Avenue Edison, NJ 08818 Directions from various points can be found at http://www.middlesexcc.edu/aboutmcc/control.cfm/ID/2528 The building is called “Main Hall”, Room 103. Students should park in Lot #5. Main Hall will be the red brick building right in front of that parking lot. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!!! Please register online and bring your paid receipt to class. This course meets the New Jersey and USCG requirements for PWC Operation, Youth and Adult Boating Certification. Upon successful completion, you will have met the requirements and can operate a PWC (Jetski) or boat. You will receive a certificate (a/k/a NJ Boating License) upon successful completion of this course- certificate received same day as class. Pre-registration is required and directions to class locations are sent to all students after registering. Changes to New Jersey boating statutes require all power vessel operators to possess a Boating Safety Certificate (BSC) from an approved course by June 1, 2009. This requirement will be phased-in via four annual steps commencing June 1, 2006. Guidelines concerning the implementation schedule are listed below. Additional details may be found with the New Jersey State Police's Marine Services Bureau. -Persons born in 1969 or later must possess a BSC by June 1, 2006 -Persons born in 1959 or later must possess a BSC by June 1, 2007 -Persons born in 1949 or later must possess a BSC by June 1, 2008 -All persons who wish to operate must possess a BSC by June 1, 2009 Class Runs One Day 8:30AM - 4:30PM The course is designed as a comprehensive boating course, teaching the fundamentals of safe boating operation. Taught by State Certified Instructors with materials approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. NJ requires classroom instruction, and this class includes the following topics: Accidents & Emergencies Boat Operation Boating Related Activities Boats & Motors Equipment Fueling & Ventilation Marine Environment Navigation Numbering & Registration Personal Watercraft Rules of the Road Safe Loading & Powering Upon successful completion of the course a temporary certification will be issued until your permanent card arrives from the State of New Jersey. This course is for persons 10 years of age or older. Ages 10-13 may take this course but a certification will not be issued by the State of New Jersey until you reach your 13th birthday.
